The 3" MCI DBI cell (Dielectric Barrier Ionizer) is the powerhouse behind the active purification in our MCI™ systems.

When added to an MCI air purification unit, it produces aggressive ionized oxidizers (without producing ozone) and multi-clustered ions that are then distributed throughout the indoor environment to clean air and surfaces, reducing odors, germs, allergens, mold, and breaking down more than 200 hazardous chemical pollutants.

The DBI cell mimics the natural air‑cleaning power of a thunderstorm. Once installed in an MCI unit, it produces clusters of charged oxygen molecules — including powerful OH radicals — that your system distributes through your home to neutralize contaminants at the molecular level.

CLEANING: The DBI cell should be cleaned on a periodic basis to restore operating efficiency, at least once every six (6) months. 

Please remove the DBI Cell from the air purification unit prior to cleaning following the disassembly instructions in your owner's manual (see resources page, link above).  

In some harsh environments, the DBI cell may accumulate a coating that will reduce the production of cluster ions. These can be cleaned by removing the DBI cell from the unit, removing and then soaking the metal screen in an enzyme bath, wiping down the surface of the glass with an enzyme cleaner and then allowing it to dry. Once dry, reassemble and reinstall the DBI cell.

REPLACEMENT: We recommend replacing the 3" MCI DBI Cell every three (3) years, or when the LED light goes out, whichever occurs first.
